Setting up Outlook Express to access your Parkland Student account

This document can be used as an aid to set up Microsoft Outlook Express to include your Parkland Student E-mail. Please read the instructions and disclaimers completely before attempting this procedure. Parkland is not responsible for any changes that you willingly make to your computer.

Start by opening up Outlook Express mail client which should look similar to this. Select Tools from the pull-down menu and choose Accounts.
When the following window appears, click on Add and choose Mail...

Enter your full name in the Display name window.

Click "Next >" to continue.

Enter your complete Parkland e-mail address in the E-mail address window.

Click "Next >" to continue.

In this window:

  • Choose POP3 or IMAP for the type of incoming mail server.
  • Set the Incoming mail server to stu.parkland.edu.
  • Set the Outgoing mail server to smtp.parkland.edu or that of your Internet Service Provider.

Click "Next >" to continue.

Next, enter your username and password for the Parkland Student E-Mail Server. If you check the 'Remember password' box you won't be prompted for a password every time Outlook Express checks for new mail. Do not check Log on using Secure Password Authentication"

Click "Next >" to continue.

Click "Finish" to continue.
You may receive the following message. If so, select Yes. This will test your connection and download any existing mail.

Your Internet Accounts window will now include stu.parkland.edu.

Click "Close" to continue.

You are now finished and you should be able to read your Parkland Student E-Mail via your Outlook Express client.
